Abstract A number of intriguing connections exist between Matthew 9:14-17 and 26:27-29 on the levels of
setting, semantics, and conceptuality. These connections have hardly received any attention in scholarship thus far. Therefore, the current paper outlines these connections, which have to do with a meal setting, the pouring out of blood and / or wine, and the death of Jesus, and propose a number of interpretative scenarios.
