Abstract The article discusses a broad subject, and it is difficult to choose which figures to present and which method to follow. An exegetical-theological analysis of two characters, Rizpah and Rut, is here proposed; they are liminal and marginal figures. but they propose a message which is at the same time subversive and current. They give a new interpretation to stereotyped roles, and choose not to be victims of the events, but the protagonists of their own destiny, developing creative responses within dramatic contexts.
