Abstract When Jerome translated the Hebrew Bible into Latin, he compared not only the Septuagint, but
also the younger Greek translations (Aquila, Symmachus, Theodotion). It is therefore not surprising that the Latin relative clause, which is introduced by the plural relative pronounquos, not as the Hebraic relative clause in the Masoretic text refers to the name of Jonadab, but to the plural noun
sermones.
