Abstract The inscription in limestone written in paleo-Hebrew,which today is known as Gezer Calendar, makes it one of the oldest examples of Hebrew, dating back to the days of David and Solomon. This finding much contributed for the study of the development of writing Hebrew language. The analysis of the nature, purpose and content of the Calendar of Gezer,as well as its current text with respect to its syntax, spelling and vocabulary contributes significantly to the understanding of the biblical text. The Calendar of Gezer offers greater clarification on the seasonal agricultural cycle of Palestine in the times of the Old Testament and a better understanding of the agricultural background of some passages from the Bible. In addition it provides evidence of the dissemination of writing during the Israeli occupation of the land of Canaan as well as their yahwistic religion. It is consistent with the evidence that emerges from Scripture itself.
