Abstract This article aims to offer a brief presentation of the debate about the authorship of Hebrews. The debate was initiated early in the Christian church. It paused between V and XV centuries, but was reborn in a heated way during the Reform, causing a ferment of ideas that continues in contemporary times. Since the early church fathers to modern scholars, many names were suggested: Paul, Luke, Clement of Rome, Barnabas, Priscilla, Apollos, Silvanus, among others. The dispute still seems far from a solution. While a solution does not come, the controversy continues to challenge the thinking of scholars and students of the New Testament.
