Abstract The present article aims at clarifying the long tradition of the Acta Pilati in Slavonic, which is derived from two different models, Latin and Greek. Both texts were translated into Slavonic and exerted mutual influences on each other, thus creating a rich and complex literary tradition that was not only used in liturgy, but also left its imprint in literature and the arts.
