Abstract |
This article tries to demonstrate that Islamic treatises against Christianity, dating from 10th century and later, offer sometimes interesting sidelights on the exegesis and the text of the New Testament. The Treatises of Abd al-Jabbār are well-known in this respect. This study deals with an interesting letter written by the convert al-Hassan b. Ayyūb with the intention to convince his brother that the Islam is a better alternative. In doing so, he deals with texts of the Bible, especially of the Gospels. One of these texts is John 8:56-59. |
