Abstract In this article two contrasting images of God as the creator are highlighted. For this purpose Psalm 65:10-14 and Jeremiah 23:9-15 are discussed in relation to each other. What started off as an observation of two contrasting texts on creation resulted in challenging theological questions about God. On the one hand he is the one who blesses creation, but on the other the one who curses creation. The theological issue addressed is that God, when it comes to his involvement with creation, is portrayed by these two testimonies of Israel as responsible for good as well as bad.
