Abstract Inventory of the king’s various functions in the offering scenes of the graeco-roman temples. Philæ, Edfu and Dendara provide the greatest amount of documentation, whereas the minor ones are almost insignificant. In the agricultural depictions, in particular, the king is the heir of obsolete duties left over from the Old Kingdom. Generally speaking, the king makes the profane sacred, he is somewhere between god and human.
