Abstract In the Treatise of the improvement of understanding, young Spinoza reconciles without confusing them, the two main components of the vera Methodus and to a certain extent, unites reflexive Method and Philosophy. However, these two methods enlighten the Method to interpret the Scripture conceived in chapter vu of the Theologico-political Treatise. Indeed, there is coherence - too often neglected in the study of Spinoza - between the vera Methodus and what Spinoza's philosophy has become later when he enunciates the rules to interpret the Scripture. This coherence is expressed at two levels. Primo, Spinoza's interpretation of the sacred Letters implies in another field the history of understanding founded by young Spinoza on the reflexive knowledge of the true idea and exprimentation. Secundo, the impossibility of a «true science » of the Scripture and the use of innate intellectual tools place the Theologico-political Treatise and the Treatise of the improvement of understanding on the same horizon: that is the specific me of understanding and an alternative to causal knowledge expressed in Ethics.
