Abstract If the two sections Ex 12,1-14 and 21-24, according to the stylistic structure of the chapters Ex 12 and 13 and in analogy to comparable texts in Pentateuch, are understood to be an order of יהוה and the passing-on of this order through Moses, then the mentioning of Pesach in Ex 12,1 Ib6 and 21 by proves to be literary historically secondary. The last night of Israel in Egypt was originally narrated without the carrying out of a sacrifice and not at all with the performance of Pesach.
