Abstract The word האמין in Jud 11,20 signals permission. The semantic range of האמין easily extends to include permission because ןימאה especially with -ל, regularly signals assent to another's speech act, whether belief in its truth (in the case of an assertion) or obedience (in the case of a command or request). An appreciation of this verb's semantic range helps to resolve a crux in connection with the sin of Moses and Aaron in Num 20,12.
