Abstract In her final form, the Pentateuch links two myths of origin (patriarchal and exodic). This study shows that also two great models symbolize ʾrṣ ysrʾl after exile: an exodic model in Ezra-Nehemiah and an autochthon model in Chronicles. If the first was strictly separatist (with the rupture of mixed marriage), the second was more integrative. Through the use of Genealogies (1 Ch 1-9), Chronicles stresses a continuous historical chain from the creation of the world until the declaration of Cyrus. And this new approach rejects the concept of selection, which is connected to the Exodus, and gives a central place to the Jerusalem's temple.
