Abstract The fact that God speaks - according to the reformational understanding he does so especially through the word of Scripture - is essential for the Christian faith; however it is not producible. What then when he does not speak any more; when at least we can not hear him any longer while reading the Scriptures; when the biblical texts loose their spiritual and theological profile? The author starting out from his approach of an hermeneutic of humility uncovers the reasons for this MCA (maximum credible accident) in the life of Christians and the church and reflects on the conditions of the possibility of God's speaking: Speak LORD, for your servant is quiet - finally!
