Abstract Close in time, two of the most enduring works of the Middle Ages: the Zohar and the Divine Comedy have more in common than their era. Both writers are outstanding figures of their time, setting their personal stamp on it and wielding tremendous influence for this reason. Their impact and standing are discussed in relation to their innovative approach to the role of their works, in which both writers illustrated the consummation of the divine will within history and the role of their opus within this design.
